Victorian Renewable Energy Auction Scheme – Briefing

The Victorian State Government has launched the competitive Victorian Renewable Energy Auction Scheme (VREAS).

The Victorian State Government has launched the competitive Victorian Renewable Energy Auction Scheme (VREAS) that will deliver up to 650 megawatts (MW) of large-scale renewable energy for Victoria.

The auction is expected to drive up to $1.3 billion in new capital expenditure, create 1,250 construction jobs and 90 on-going roles. Most of the new jobs will be created in regional Victoria where wind and solar projects are likely to be based.

The auction calls for 64% supply of local content for the projects. So there are great opportunities for Bendigo Businesses to participate in the program.

The developers have to lodge their application by late February 2018.

There is a very small window of opportunity for businesses to register their interest on the Victorian Government Auction Scheme.

Victorian Government supports local supply chains for all renewable energy projects, and encourages both developers and suppliers to register with ICN Gateway at www.vicrenewables.icn.org.au. This process is being managed by the Industry Capability Network (ICN) to connect potential developers to capable supply chain. Through supply chain mapping, ICN have identified over 100 types of opportunities within the projects.

This event is promoted by the Bendigo Sustainability Group and is supported by Industry Capacity Network and Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
