Advocacy in Action: From Ballarat to Bendigo, putting local business on the agenda

Over the past few weeks, Be.Bendigo has been actively representing our business community across local, regional and national forums. Each conversation has been another step in ensuring Bendigo’s voice is heard where it matters most.

National and Regional Engagement

Attendance at the Bush Summit in Ballarat provided a valuable opportunity to connect with regional leaders and hear firsthand about the challenges and opportunities shaping communities across Australia. Engagement with Qantas also ensured the impact of recent schedule changes on Bendigo businesses was clearly communicated.

Representation at the Loddon Campaspe roundtable contributed to the development of the Shaping Loddon Mallee International Engagement Strategy. Meetings with APRA and Multiplex further highlighted how Bendigo businesses can strengthen their capability to be more competitive in tender opportunities.

Local Connections and Partnerships

Closer to home, connections with members and partners have remained strong. Recent catch-ups at Le Foyer and with Bendigo Tech School, participation in the “No Walk Just Talk” initiative connecting women in business, and a meeting with local member Maree Edwards all reinforced the importance of local engagement.

The Be.Bendigo team also visited Mandalay Resources, a valued Corporate Partner and Award Category Sponsor, which has now been acquired by Alkane Resources. This is an important development for our region, and we look forward to sharing more updates soon.

Community and Wellbeing

Advocacy isn’t just about business – it’s also about supporting the wellbeing of our community. Be.Bendigo was pleased to support the launch of Lifeline Loddon Mallee’s Hello for Hope campaign, which will run throughout September, raising funds and awareness through a diverse program of events.

Listening to You

Advocacy only works when it reflects the experiences of our members. That’s why Be.Bendigo recently released a survey seeking feedback on the changes to Qantas flights between Bendigo and Sydney. Thank you to those who have already shared your thoughts – your input helps us amplify the collective voice of our business community.

At Be.Bendigo, we remain committed to ensuring Bendigo’s business community is represented – locally, regionally and nationally. Together, we’re shaping stronger outcomes for business and community.
