The Bendigo Regional Manufacturers Group (BRMG) will now be hosted by Be.Bendigo, strengthening advocacy, connection and representation for one of our region’s most important economic sectors.
This transition brings the long-standing manufacturers’ group under the umbrella of Bendigo’s peak business organisation, ensuring local manufacturers continue to have a clear and coordinated voice at a time when workforce, infrastructure and economic conditions are front of mind.
Since 2001, BRMG has provided strong advocacy and industry development for local manufacturers. The group has focused on infrastructure investment, workforce capability, environmental considerations and building strong relationships with local education providers.
BRMG has also played an important role in supporting traineeships, apprenticeships and work-integrated learning programs. This work has helped ensure a sustainable pipeline of skilled workers for the manufacturing sector and supported long-term industry growth across the region.
Over more than two decades, the group has connected local manufacturers, shared insights and advocated on key issues impacting the sector.
A Shared Commitment to the Sector’s Future
Hayley Tibbett, Chief Executive Officer of Be.Bendigo, said the decision reflects a shared commitment to collaboration and long-term sustainability.
“Manufacturing is a critical pillar of Bendigo’s economy, and it’s vital that the sector has a strong, united voice,” Ms Tibbett said.
“Bringing BRMG into Be.Bendigo ensures manufacturers remain well connected, well represented and well supported — not just within the sector, but across the broader business community.”
Outgoing BRMG Chair Paul Chapman said the transition positions the group for future growth and impact.
“A vibrant manufacturing base underpins all prosperous economies around the world,” Mr Chapman said.
“The BRMG wholeheartedly and optimistically supports the transition into Be.Bendigo and, together, further strengthening the region’s reputation as a world-class and globally recognised innovative manufacturing sector, while creating even more local employment opportunities.”
What This Means in Practice
Under the new arrangement, Be.Bendigo will provide coordination, governance and advocacy support, while maintaining the group’s strong industry-led focus.
The transition also enables closer alignment between manufacturers and Be.Bendigo’s broader advocacy agenda. This includes engagement with all levels of government, workforce and skills development, infrastructure investment and economic growth priorities for Greater Bendigo.
Manufacturing remains a critical driver of Bendigo’s economy. This next chapter ensures the sector continues to have strong representation and meaningful connection across the wider business community.
Be.Bendigo looks forward to working closely with local manufacturers as this transition takes effect and the group moves confidently into its next phase.
