YPN Is Back: Building Financial Know-How and a Stronger Network

Our latest YPN event brought together young professionals looking to build confidence in their financial future. Money Moves: A Young Professional’s Guide to Investing offered a clear and practical introduction to how the share market works, what options exist for growing a portfolio and how to make informed decisions in a fast-changing investment landscape.

Event Insights

The session was led by Jessica Southerden, National Manager for Business Development at CommSec. With extensive experience across Australia’s major financial institutions, Jessica’s ability to simplify complex ideas made the session accessible and valuable for professionals at every stage of their investing journey.

Attendees explored the fundamentals of investing – how the share market operates, what diversification looks like and the growing role of ETFs and international markets. Jessica also discussed geared solutions, risk management and how to stay informed as markets evolve.

Whether participants were taking their first steps or refining their approach, the session provided practical knowledge to support smart long-term decisions.

A Milestone Event with Our New YPN Sponsor: Strategem

This event marked the beginning of YPN’s new partnership with Strategem and it’s one we’re especially proud of.

Strategem’s involvement reflects a core belief central to their organisation – that every young person should have the opportunity to reach their potential, no matter where they start.

Their support strengthens our ability to offer high-quality learning experiences and create meaningful opportunities for the next generation of Bendigo’s business community. It’s a partnership grounded in shared values: growth, capability and opening pathways for young professionals to thrive.

Thank You

A sincere thank you to Jessica from CommSec for sharing her expertise, to Strategem for their generous support of YPN and to Red Energy Arena – Sky Lounge for hosting us in a welcoming and professional space.

We look forward to carrying this momentum into next year as we create more opportunities for young professionals across our region.
