Bendigo Primary Care Centre operates as a non-profit organisation dedicated to delivering primary healthcare services and stands as a beacon of educational and training excellence in Regional Victoria. In 2011, an alliance comprising Bendigo Health, Bendigo Community Health Services, Monash University, La Trobe University, the Central Victorian General Practice Network, Beyond Medical Education, and the City of Greater Bendigo, came together to transform the Monash Rural Health School’s Primary Care Clinic into what is now the largest community-owned medical practice in central Victoria.
Presently, the Centre boasts a skilled team of Doctors, Nurses, Allied Health professionals, and administrative personnel, catering to the primary healthcare needs of 20,000 regular patients in Bendigo and Central Victoria. It serves as a vital training ground for GP Registrars, Nurses, and Administrative staff, nurturing a future workforce poised to sustain healthcare provision throughout the region for years to come and integrating competent professionals into the local primary healthcare framework.
Additionally, the Centre houses the Priority Primary Care Centre – Bendigo. This facility collaborates with the Victorian Government, Murray Primary Health Network, and Bendigo Health Emergency Department to offer an urgent care alternative for community members who require immediate attention but do not need an emergency response. This initiative significantly enhances the accessibility and efficiency of healthcare services in the area.
